Main Types of Welding and the Functions of Electrode Coating

Welding processes can generally be divided into three main categories: fusion welding, pressure welding, and brazing. 1. Fusion Welding

2. Pressure Welding

Pressure welding is a joining method that uses pressure, friction, diffusion, or a combination of these effects to bring two contact surfaces close enough for atomic bonding to occur in the solid state. During this process, surface irregularities, oxide films, and other contaminants are reduced or displaced, allowing the two materials to bond without full melting.

3. Brazing

Brazing is a joining method that uses a filler metal with a melting point lower than that of the base materials. The filler metal melts, wets the surfaces of the joined parts, and then solidifies during cooling to form the bonded joint.
