What Is Precision Injection Molding and Why Multi-Stage Injection Control Matters

Precision injection molding is a specialized molding process carried out on a precision injection molding machine. It mainly relies on multi-stage injection control and accurate mold temperature management to achieve higher dimensional accuracy, better stability, and more consistent product quality.

Multi-stage injection molding means that during a single injection cycle, different injection speeds and injection pressures are applied at different screw positions as the melt is pushed into the mold cavity. By controlling the filling process in multiple stages, the molding conditions can be adjusted more precisely to match the actual flow behavior of the material inside the mold.

A multi-stage injection control program allows the molding process to be set according to factors such as runner design, gate type, and part structure. Injection pressure, injection speed, holding pressure, and melt filling mode can all be optimized based on the specific product design and molding requirements. This helps improve plasticizing performance, enhance part quality, reduce defect rates, and extend the service life of both the mold and the injection molding machine.

In practical production, the settings for multi-stage injection molding are usually determined according to the structure of the molded part, the location of any defects, the screw size of the injection molding machine, and the experience of on-site process technicians. Proper setup and tuning are therefore essential to achieving stable precision molding results.
