Workflow

This page outlines our standard project workflow, from initial inquiry to tooling, production, and final delivery.

1. Customer Inquiry

The customer sends us an RFQ (Request for Quotation).
A typical RFQ includes part drawings such as 3D files (IGS, STP, STEP, X_T) and 2D drawings (DXF or PDF with dimensional specifications). Additional requirements may include material selection, color, surface finishing, and application details.

If engineering drawings are not available, customers may also provide photos of existing parts, reference samples, or hand sketches describing the concept.

2. Technical Communication

Once we receive the inquiry and technical data, we respond promptly and begin technical clarification.
Effective communication is essential to fully understand the project and provide an accurate quotation.

Key discussion points may include part function, operating environment, critical surfaces, and performance requirements. All customer information is kept strictly confidential. A Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) can be signed upon request.

3. Part Structure Confirmation

Before tooling design begins, we confirm the part structure and manufacturing approach with the customer.
Our engineering review covers critical factors such as parting lines, draft angles, gate locations, ejection methods, heating, venting, and cooling systems to ensure manufacturability and stable production.

4. Tooling Design

We provide a complete tooling design package, including 2D drawings and 3D assembly models.
All design documents are submitted to the customer for review and approval. Tooling fabrication proceeds only after design confirmation.

5. Tooling Manufacturing & Testing

Tooling fabrication is the most time-consuming stage of the process.
During this phase, we provide regular progress updates with photos and status reports.

After tooling completion, the mold is mounted on an injection molding machine for trial runs. Sample parts are produced and sent to the customer for evaluation. Once sample quality is approved, the tooling phase is considered complete.

6. Tooling Packaging & Shipping

Before shipment, extended trial runs are conducted to verify mold performance and stability.
To prevent corrosion, the mold is wrapped with protective film and packed in a customized wooden case.

We offer flexible shipping options including sea freight, air freight, and express delivery (DHL, UPS, FedEx, TNT). The shipping method is selected in coordination with the customer based on cost, lead time, and destination.

7. Production & Part Manufacturing

FITMOLD provides injection molding, surface finishing, assembly, and secondary processing services.
Upon customer authorization, the mold is released for production, and finished products are manufactured according to approved specifications.

8. Finished Product Shipping

For large-volume production, finished parts are typically shipped by sea freight or rail transport.
Packaging and logistics are arranged to ensure safe delivery to the customer’s designated location.
