Slower Aging
Compared with some other rubber sealing materials, sealing materials under pressure and continuous stress will gradually age over time, and their elasticity will decrease. For this reason, sealing rings have a certain service life, which is closely related to the quality of the sealing material. Because the amount of pre-compression after installation is relatively small, rectangular sealing rings generally age more slowly.
Good Stability
Due to their shape characteristics, rectangular sealing rings are less likely to twist after installation. The deformation caused by pre-compression is relatively small, and when hydraulic pressure changes, the change in shape is also limited. This helps provide better sealing stability during operation.
Strong Resistance to Extrusion
When O-rings are used under frequent or long-term pressure shock, a small amount of sealing material may gradually be sheared and extruded into the clearance gap on the low-pressure side. This phenomenon is often called extrusion damage. Under the same working conditions, rectangular sealing rings offer stronger resistance to extrusion and can better avoid this kind of damage.
Fitmold specializes in manufacturing rubber compression molds and molded rubber products in a variety of materials. We can customize different types of sealing rings according to drawings, including O-rings, square rings, rectangular seals, and Rectangular-D rings.
